About the Juvenile Fillies

The 1 1/16-mile, $2 million Breeders' Cup® Juvenile Fillies features two-year-old Thoroughbred fillies at their best. Last year's race favorite, Indian Blessing, finished 3 1/2 lengths ahead of the runner-up in a wire-to-wire victory on a sloppy track and went on to capture the Eclipse award for outstanding two-year-old filly. The distance of the race has varied over the years, depending on the configuration of the host track, but Tempera’s time of 1:41.49 from 2001 is the race record at the 1 1/16-mile distance.

Stardom Bound, Dream Empress and Sky Diva have won Breeders' Cup Challenge races that guarantee them berths in this year's race.

About the Juvenile

The $2 million Breeders' Cup® Juvenile is a 1 1/16-mile Thoroughbred horse race for two-year-old colts and geldings. Last year's unbeaten favorite, War Pass, won the race by 4 3/4 lengths and then clinched the Eclipse Award as the nation's best 2-year-old male of 2007. Unfortunately he suffered a leg injury shortly before the 2008 Kentucky Derby and wasn't able to repeat Street Sense's Juvenile-Derby double from the previous season. Success Express’ winning time of 1:35.20 from 1987 has never been beat.

Street Hero, Square Eddie and Vineyard Haven have won Breeders' Cup Challenge races that guarantee them berths in this year's race.
