Super Bowl XLII Player Prop reviewBodog has literally hundreds of
Super Bowl XLII team and player props for you to bet on. We’re going to look at the big three offensive players for each team and how our prop masters have set the line. (Please note odds are current as of publication)
First let’s take a look at the quarterbacks:
Eli Manning Eli Manning has turned it around this season and has shaken the criticisms (that he throws more passes to the cornerbacks than receivers) and nicknames ("bust" and “The Never-Ending Story” because he has no finish.) He didn’t fold in the second half of the 2007 NFL season unlike other years where he could have been compared to a cheap suitcase.
2008 Super Bowl XLII Props - Eli Manning - Total Passing YardsOver 225½ (-115)
Under 225½ (-115)
Our oddsmakers have set his total passing yards at 225½. He’s gone over the total eight times in 19 games this season, with half of them being losses – including one to his Super Bowl XLII opponents, the New England Patriots. Of the 11 times he’s gone under the total only two were wins. So if you think there is a good chance the Giants will win this game, under may be the way you want to go. But if you think they will be playing catch up, over would be a good option for you.
Tom BradyNext, we have Tom Brady. He came in as a backup to Drew Bledsoe in 2001 and went on to win the MVP of Super Bowl XXXVI. He’s done it all: three SB wins, two SB MVPs. Not only does he lead a charmed life on the football field, he’s a hero off the field. People have said Tom Brady doesn’t just date movie stars and models, he dumps movie stars and models. If we all could be so lucky.
2008 Super Bowl XLII Props - Tom Brady - Total Passing YardsOver 300½ (-105)
Under 300½ (-125)
Brady has gone over eight times this season including Week 17 versus the Giants. This week Plaxico Burress suggested that the Patriots would only score 17 points in the Super Bowl, and Brady was offended. I would expect a big game from Mr. Perfect.
Now the running backs:
Brandon Jacobs 2008 Super Bowl XLII Props - Brandon Jacobs - Total Rushing YardsOver 65½ (-115)
Under 65½ (-115)
Brandon Jacobs has been a 265-pound bulldozer running over defenses all season long. Jacobs will be sharing his running duties with Ahmad Bradshaw; Bradshaw’s total is 48½ yards. Only one of them is going over the total, so choose wisely.
Laurence Maroney2008 Super Bowl XLII Props - Laurence Maroney - Total Rushing YardsOver 88½ (+105)
Under 88½ (-135)
Maroney was an afterthought early in the season during the Brady and Moss show but has put up some big numbers lately, including running for 122 yards in each of the Patriots’ playoff games.
Now the top receivers:
Plaxico Burress2008 Super Bowl XLII Props - Plaxico Burress - Total Receiving YardsOver 75½ (-115)
Under 75½ (-115)
Burress made a bold prediction that the Giants would win 23-17, making him a prime target for the Patriots defenders. Not only that, if his prediction of a low scoring game holds true it could mean he won’t put up big receiving numbers.
Randy Moss2008 Super Bowl XLII Props - Randy Moss - Total Receiving Yards Over 93½ (-105)
Under 93½ (-125)
This is Randy Moss’s first trip to the big game. His competitive nature won’t let him have a bad performance on the biggest stage in the world. Moss will be double-teamed most of the game so this one could easily go either way.
