This Friday in the realm of the NBA, Portland takes on Miami, and Golden State challenges Chicago.

The Portland Trail Blazers will probably march into Miami singing as they’ve won and covered eight of their last 10 games and are in the NBA Power Rankings top 10, whereas the Miami Heat have lost 10 straight games and are sitting, probably not comfortably, in last place of the rankings.

In Game 2, the No. 10 Golden State Warriors take on the No. 22 Chicago Bulls. The Bulls aren’t holding on by their teeth yet, but they’re struggling for sure, averaging only 93.8 points per game.

Another NFL weekend brings us closer to the Bowl. On Sunday, the San Diego Chargers will have themselves a tough challenge against the undefeated New England Patriots for the glory of being the AFC Champ and getting a shot at the bowl of all bowls.

The Chargers may be 5-0 in their last five games with a matching ATS, but so are the Patriots. The good news is that the Chargers were the 13-point underdogs last week when they played the Colts, but they fought it out and ended up with a 28-24 win. Hopefully the strong defense they kept up all season will stay strong as Chris Chambers and Vincent Jackson pick up the slack for injured Antonio Gates, who may not play because of a sprained toe. Philip Rivers may not play due to injury, but if he does, he’ll have to continue leading the offense in the right direction as he did in their game against the Colts. And we’re hoping for the Chargers’ sake that LaDainian Tomlinson’s sprained knee won’t be sprained by game day. But then again, the Chargers are going to have to bring all this and then some if they want to at least cover the spread against the Patriots.

The second game on Sunday will be for the NFC Champ title that’ll go to either the New York Giants or the Green Bay Packers. Being 7-point underdogs this week, as they were last week before winning against the Cowboys, the Giants will hope their star quarterback Eli Manning and their stout defense will get the job done and cover the spread. They’re probably also hoping that their road luck, which is 9-1, will stay with them despite the fact that they’ve lost to the Packers four of five times since 1995. The Packers come into this game hoping that history will repeat itself and that they’ll beat the Giants again like they did in Week 2, 35-13.
