New England's Road to Perfection
by Bodog Sportsbook | Dec 28 2007
The Patriots face the Giants Saturday night in their quest to be the first team to finish a 16 game regular season undefeated. Bodog is giving you your chance to cash in on history. Will the Giants keep it close like the Colts and Eagles or will they be roadkill like the Bills and Cowboys?
There are a few other unofficial records the Patriots are sure to smash that you won't find on NFL.com. New England has never been a dog this season. If you add up all of the point spreads, they've been favored by 222 points. To put that number in perspective three teams haven't scored that many points all season. The Patriots were favored by an average of 13.85 points this season and their ATS record of 10-5 has been very profitable for their backers. The Patriots covered the first eight games of the season but are only 2-5 in their last seven. Early in the season the line couldn't be high enough but lately the Patriots have been winning in a more conservative fashion. The line has been hovering around 14 points which seems like a bargain considering the Patriots have defeated the opposition by an average of 20.8 points a game.
The stars have aligned for Tom, Bill and Co. as the Giants are already in the playoffs and traditional wisdom says that Giants coach Tom Coughlin should rest his starters for the playoffs. But all the news out of New York has the Giants playing to win the game. Whether this is just a coach saying the right thing or if he is serious about his team putting up a roadblock on the Patriots road to history will be determined on Saturday night.
