North Carolina vs. Louisville
North Carolina started this game trying to run on every possession against the Louisville Cardinals. In the first half, their strategy worked as North Carolina was able to build a 12 point lead by the end of the first half. In the second half, coach Pitino’s adjustments began to play dividends as Louisville clawed their way back to tie the game midway through the second half. That was when Tyler Hansbrough took over. Hansbrough out competed every single player on the court. His will to win alone seemed to be putting points on the board. Hansbrough scored almost every time he touched the ball down the stretch in the second half. Louisville’s defense did an excellent job of slowing the North Carolina transition offense, but they simply had no response for Hansbrough. Hansbrough would finish the game with a game high 28 points and 13 rebounds. Roy Williams’s North Carolina Tarheels would hold off Rick Pitino’s Louisville Cardinals 83-73. North Carolina advances to the Final Four.
