About Great Lakes Downs Racetrack
The Great Lakes Downs Racetrack is located in the small town of Muskegon, Michigan, on the western portion of the state, near the shores of Lake Michigan. Great Lakes held its first thoroughbred race on April 23, 1999, when the Detroit Race Course closed its doors at the end of the 1998 season.
Great Lakes offers fine dining at Derby's, a restaurant that overlooks the racetrack and paddock. Derby's has a lounge equipped with more than 50 televisions and a full bar that features live entertainment every Wednesday and Saturday night.
