Trained by John Shirreffs, Tiago finished second in a maiden special weight at Santa Anita Park last year. His maiden special weight win in January resulted from a disqualification.

Finished seventh to Great Hunter in the $200,000 Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita Park. However, joined the leading contenders for the Kentucky Derby when he rallied from ninth to first to capture the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby (G1) on April 7.

Tiago placed seventh in this year's Kentucky Derby. He skipped the Preakness Stakes but is running in the Belmont Stakes.

Tiago's post position for the 139th Belmont Stakes was 2. He placed third, increasing his earnings amount by $110,000.
