Trainer Mark Shuman's Xchanger won his first race and then took the $125,000 Sapling Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park. Finished sixth in the $400,000 Champagne Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park, beaten by over 13 lengths. Was third in the $100,000 Nashua Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct and third again in the $1 million Delta Jackpot Stakes (G3) at Delta Downs.

Made his first start as a three-year-old in the $250,000 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park where he had traffic problems and finished fifth. Followed that up with a seventh place finish in the $300,000 Rebel Stakes (G3) but bounced back to win the $125,000 Federico Tesio Stakes at Pimlico on April 21.

Xchanger dropped out of Kentucky Derby consideration on the Tuesday before Derby day, which (along with the departure of Cobalt Blue) opened the door for Teuflesberg and Imawildandcrazyguy to run. He came back for the Preakness Stakes, where he placed eighth.
