Trainer Todd Pletcher's Circular Quay was undefeated in three starts before coming second to Great Hunter in the $500,000 Lane's End Breeders' Futurity (G1) and Street Sense in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1). Has a win at Churchill Downs in the $150,000 Bashford Manor Stakes (G3) and an impressive last to first win in the $250,000 Hopeful Stakes (G1).
Had bad luck in his first start as a three-year-old, finishing fifth in the $300,000 Risen Star Stakes (G3) after dodging a fallen horse. Came back with a 2 1/4-length win in the $600,000 Louisiana Derby (G2).
Circular Quay placed sixth in this year's Kentucky Derby and fifth in the Preakness Stakes.
Circular Quay is the son of Thunder Gulch, who was the 1995 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner.
