Chelokee

Trained by Michael Matz, Chelokee broke his maiden by about 13 lengths in his second start last year. In his third race, finished second to Sam P. in an allowance race at Churchill Downs.

Finished third in both of his races as a three-year-old—an allowance race at Gulfstream Park and the $1 million Florida Derby (G1). His trainer gave up on running him in this year's Kentucky Derby because of insufficient earnings in graded stakes races as well as a few minor setbacks that affected his training just days before the race.

Chelokee is trained by Michael Matz, who saddled the ill-fated Barbaro to win the 2006 Kentucky Derby.
