Any Given Saturday

Trained by Todd Pletcher, Any Given Saturday won his first two starts last year, in a maiden special weight and an allowance, and then finished a close second to Tiz Wonderful in the $200,000 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs.

Kicked off his three-year-old campaign by winning the $150,000 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs by 2 3/4 lengths, but Street Sense defeated him by a nose in the $300,000 Tampa Bay Derby (G3) on March 17. Finished behind Nobiz Like Shobiz and Sightseeing in the $750,000 Wood Memorial Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct on April 7.

Any Given Saturday placed eighth in this year's Kentucky Derby. He made an earnest run approaching the final quarter but flattened out when straightened for the drive.

The name "Any Given Saturday", a takeoff of the football movie "Any Given Sunday", was the winning entry in an annual contest WinStar conducts among its 60 employees to name the farm's prospects.
