Trainer Greg Fox's Slew's Tizzy didn't break his maiden until his first start as a three-year-old.
Became infamous as the longshot who stumbled and lost his rider during the $300,000 Risen Star Stakes (G3) at the Fair Grounds, nearly derailing the Kentucky Derby hopes of Circular Quay. Finished seventh of eight starters in his next race, the $600,000 Louisiana Derby (G2). However, his stunning 40-1 upset in the $325,000 Coolmore Lexington Stakes (G2) at Keeneland on April 21 has put him in the Derby picture.
Slew's Tizzy earned $201,500 for his win in the Lexington Stakes. With his graded earnings now totaling $207,500, he is in the 13th spot on the graded earnings list for Derby contenders and has bumped a few horses far enough down the list that they will likely be excluded from the 20-horse field.
Slew's Tizzy needs a new rider for the Kentucky Derby. His regular rider, Robby Albarado, will be riding Curlin.
