Trainer Todd Pletcher's Scat Daddy broke his maiden at Belmont and then won the $150,000 Sanford Stakes (G2) at Saratoga. Was second to Circular Quay in the $250,000 Hopeful Stakes (G1) and won the $400,000 Champagne Stakes (G1) before finishing fourth in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) at Churchill Downs.

Made his first start of 2007 in the $150,000 Holy Bull Stakes (G3) at Gulfstream Park where he faded to third after battling Nobiz Like Shobiz through most of the race. Rallied and won the $350,000 Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) over Stormello and Nobiz Like Shobiz. Captured the $1 million Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park on March 31, finishing 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Notional.

Scat Daddy's post position is 14

If Scat Daddy wins the Kentucky Derby, he will be following in the footsteps of Barbaro, Monarchos and Thunder Gulch—the Florida Derby winners from the past twelve years who have gone on to win the Kentucky Derby.

Scat Daddy is the only three-year-old male with multiple Grade 1 victories—the $400,000 Champagne Stakes and the $1 million Florida Derby. With graded earnings of $1,308,500, he is second on the graded earnings list for Derby contenders—only Street Sense is ahead of him.
