Got his first stakes win in the $500,000 Lane's End Breeders' Futurity (G1) before finishing a distant third behind Street Sense and Circular Quay in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) at Churchill Downs.
Had an easy victory in his three-year-old debut in the $200,000 Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita Park. Finished a disappointing fifth in the $750,000 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1) at Keeneland on April 14 after getting shut off behind a wall of four horses.

Aptitude, the sire of Great Hunter, was the runner-up in the 2000 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes and the eventual winner of the 10-furlong Jockey Club Gold Cup.
Great Hunter's graded earnings of $752,500 have secured him a spot in the Kentucky Derby. The 20-horse field for the Derby is determined by graded stakes earnings if more than 20 horses are entered, and he is sixth on the list.
