Scratch Rules

A horse is scratched when it is listed as an entry in a race but is taken out of the race before it starts. A horse maybe scratched early in the day or right up until post time. Our system marks scratches in the race pane so that you can't wager on them (see Figure 1).

However, if you wagered on a horse before it was scratched, Bodog follows the official payout results posted by the host track.

Win / Place / Show

All of your Win/Place/Show wagers involving a scratched horse will be refunded.

Exacta / Trifecta / Superfecta

Each portion of your Exacta/Trifecta/Superfecta wager involving a scratched horse will be refunded.

Quinella

Each portion of your Quinella wager involving a scratched horse will be refunded.

Daily Double

  1. If the first leg of your ticket loses, the entire ticket is deemed a loss (even if your horse scratches in the second leg).
  2. You will receive a consolation payout, if the host track offers one, when your horse scratches in one leg of your ticket and the other leg wins.
  3. If the host track doesn't offer a consolation payout, you will receive a refund when your horse scratches in the first leg of your ticket or when the first leg of your ticket wins and your horse scratches in the second leg.

Pick 3 / Pick 4

  1. If you have multiple selections in your Pick 3 or Pick 4, each combination will be scored according to the Pick 3/Pick 4 Scratch Rules.
  2. If a horse is scratched in the first leg of the wager then all combinations with that horse are eligible for a refund.
  3. If your selection in the first leg of the combination is a loss, the entire combination is deemed a loss.
  4. If one of your selections in another leg is a scratch and all other legs in the combination are winners, you will automatically receive a consolation payout if one is offered by the host track. If there is no consolation offered by the host track, you are eligible for a refund on that combination.
  5. For refunds please contact Racebook Customer Service at 1-877-GIDDY-UP (443-3987) or horses@bodoglife.com so that we can issue the refund manually.

Coupled Entries

  1. If one of the coupled horses scratches and the rest of the entry runs, your wager will have action on the running horse(s).
  2. You will receive a refund only if all of the horses in the entry are scratched.
