Until last year, the 1 1/16-mile, $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile for Thoroughbred colts and geldings was considered a measure of two-year-old form rather than a reliable yardstick of classic potential. However, Street Sense changed all that when he won the Juvenile and then went on to win the Kentucky Derby in May. His winning margin of 10 lengths was the largest in Juvenile history and the second-largest in Breeders' Cup history.
