Bodog.com Sportsbook and Casino™ has released odds on when Drew Henson will get his first start with the Dallas Cowboys.
With Quincy Carter being released by the Cowboys yesterday, you can now wager on when the younger Dallas quarterback will make his first official start.
“Testaverde has proven himself over the years. You have to wonder though, at his age, just how long he can stay healthy for,” said Rob Gillespie, former book manager and respected industry author. “The loss of Quincy Carter certainly leaves a hole in the Cowboy's offensive game plan for the season.”
Drew Henson remains unproven in the NFL, and Testaverde is at an age where injury is simply a fact of life. Currently, the favorite has Henson stepping in as the starter between Week 9-12 of the 2004-05 NFL season at 3/2 odds. Close behind the favorite has Henson becoming the starter from Week 5-8 or Week 13-17, both listed in the early going at 5/2 odds. Should Testaverde be forced out of action in Week 1-4, and Henson stepping in, the odds are listed at 6/1. The long shot option for this wager would have Testaverde retaining the starting position for the entire season. The odds are sitting at 8/1.
“Most of the successful teams in the NFL have a mobile quarterback to thank. The Cowboys now have an unproven player, and a player with age working against him,” said Gillespie. “I am a big advocate of seeing the old guys come through. It’s just really tough for quarterbacks that get drilled by large defensive lineman to keep playing.”
