Carlos Covets a New Team

With Beltran’s impending free agency at the end of the season, the Kansas City Royals will be looking to move Beltran for some future prospects to bolster their lineup in years to come.

“Beltran is a great all around player, solid defense, good on the bases, and no problems at the dish,” said Rob Gillespie, former book manager and respected industry author. “A player like Beltran can certainly help a team looking to add a few more components to the line-up for a viable playoff run.”

A number of teams have expressed interest in the services of Beltran; however, only a handful of teams have what the Royals are looking for. With a wealth of young talent in the system, the San Diego Padres have emerged as the early favorite at 1/1 odds. Although the Yankees do not possess much in the way of prospects they have cash, and cash is king. The odds for Beltran to land in the house that Ruth built are set at 5/2. You cannot mention the Yankees without mentioning the Boston Red Sox too. The odds for Beltran landing in Bean town are 5/1. Other teams who may make a push for Beltran include the Oakland Athletics at 10/1 odds, New York Mets at 12/1, and the Philadelphia Phillies and LA Dodgers tied at 15/1 odds. You can also wager on Beltran not being traded away from Kansas City, with the odds running at 10/1.

“As much as I enjoy the whole Yankees Red Sox rivalry, it’s nice to see some other teams with a shot at picking up a great player,” said Gillespie. “I would think this trade will happen very soon rather than waiting it out until closer to the trading deadline.”
