Tip Off Another WNBA Season

With the WNBA season officially tipping off yesterday, the public can now wager on which WNBA team will prevail this season.

“The WNBA has produced some fantastic games in recent seasons, and I would expect nothing less this season,” said Rob Gillespie, former book manager and respected industry author. “I think the women are beginning to make a name for themselves; another good season of games combined with the Olympics could push the WNBA to the forefront.”

The two-time WNBA champions, Los Angeles Sparks are early favorites to win the WNBA Championship this season, with the odds currently listed at 2/1. Last seasons champions, the Detroit Shock, who dethroned the Sparks last season are right in the fray at 3/1 odds. The Houston Comets and Sacramento Monarchs are in a deadlock tie at 5/1 odds. On the outside looking in we have the San Antonio Silver Stars at 25/1 odds, and the Connecticut Sun at 30/1. The long shot team to capture the 2004 WNBA crown is the Minnesota Lynx, who are currently sitting at 35/1 odds.

“Even in the first games this year, they are scoring more points than the big dogs in the NBA playoffs,” said Gillespie. “These ladies can play, what else can I say?”
