Matrix: Reloaded movie props shatter all-time records at Bodog

Despite the fact that the movie doesn't open for another week, The Matrix: Reloaded has shattered previous records for movie props at Bodog Sportsbook, Casino and Poker.

"Our movie props don't normally garner a lot of attention from our bettors," said Bodog President, Rob Gillespie. "Normally we see $1000 to $2000 in wagers on any movie prop we have, but what we're seeing with The Matrix is truly unbelievable."

As of Friday morning Bodog had accepted nearly $24,000 USD in wagers on three individual props for the box office totals for the most highly anticipated blockbuster of the summer.

"This movie has had an incredible amount of hype, and that's a big part of why we've seen this increase," said Gillespie. "But at the same time betting on movies and their box office totals in general is becoming extremely popular."

Players can wager on the Total Opening Day Box Office, Total Opening 3-Day Weekend Box Office and the Number of Days to $100-million in Box Office Sales.

"Previously the record for wagers was just over $2200 and that was on the Lord of the Rings: Two Towers," said Gillespie. "But the amount of handle we've had on the Matrix props has absolutely blown that away."

The props have been up since the last week of April, but the majority of the wagering has happened in the last week.

"When an action movie gets a cover story on Time Magazine, it's doing something right," said Gillespie. "Given the amount of hype the movie will get in the next week we expect to take upwards of $40,000 on these props."
