Big inning propels Nationals

The Washington Nationals scored four runs in the seventh inning Wednesday and earned a 5-3 win over the New York Mets at Shea Stadium.

Washington won the game as +140 underdogs, while the eight runs fell UNDER the posted over/under (9).

Felipe Lopez had two hits and drove in one run for the Nationals. Tim Redding threw six innings for the win, and Jon Rauch tossed just over an inning of relief for the save.

Brian Schneider belted a solo home run and finished with two RBIs for the Mets. Claudio Vargas surrendered two runs off three hits to suffer the loss.
