Felipe Lopez had two hits and drove in one run for the Nationals. Tim Redding threw six innings for the win, and Jon Rauch tossed just over an inning of relief for the save.
Brian Schneider belted a solo home run and finished with two RBIs for the Mets. Claudio Vargas surrendered two runs off three hits to suffer the loss.
