Alfonso Soriano homered and finished with three RBIs to lead the Cubs. Ted Lilly allowed four runs off six hits in six innings of work to earn the win.
Tadahito Iguchi went 2-for-5 at the plate for the Padres. Jake Peavy gave up four runs off seven hits over four innings to suffer the loss.
