Todd Wellemeyer scattered just four hits in helping the St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-1 Wednesday night at Busch Stadium.
St. Louis won the game as -157 favorites, while the six runs fell UNDER the posted over/under (8.5).
Troy Gluas had three hits and drove in one run for the Cardinals. Wellemeyer improved his record to 4-1 with the win.
Nate McLouth drove in the only run for the Pirates. Paul Maholm gave up four runs off 11 hits over seven innings in the loss.
